Technical Broken Gearbox :(

Ok on Sunday I was travelling to Trax's (I had a fantastic day by the way)

But when I was on the way there I was on the M1 doing about 70 (well 80/85 but don't tell the cops
I was in the middle lane when my gearbox decided to loose 1st and 2nd causing what felt like the nearside front tyre to lock up for about half a second and then emit a horrible humming noise.

I quickly pulled over onto the hard shoulder and investegated to see if I had a blow out, but the tyre were fine, (so I thought I must have ran something over),

only when I got back in the car did I discover that I was missed two gears
I can push the gearstick over to the left and move it forward and backwards but it doesn't go into gear for some reason


If anyone thinks they know what's the matter with it, I'd really like to know.

Sounds like an internal failure, sorry to state the obvious. Will almost certainly need to come apart to fix, or change it for another.

Sounds to me like a good excuse to upgrade to a 6 speed Punto box!

Well I popped along to Fiat this morning to see mine and my dad's friend John, to see what his diagnoses was, and it wasn't goot, he recons it could be one of the forks inside the gearbox, or something along those lines that has either got a part broken off, or is damaged in someway, so he said it would have to be dismantled and investagated.

I'll let you know what happens with it.
