I need help, the tilting mechanism on both my front seats has broken. When I lift the lever up there is no tension in it and the seat doesn't move. Does anyone know what causes this and how to fix it ?

Cheers

Gav

yeah when i bought this bravo i had the same problem, one of the runners were bent, i tried to straighten buitr it didnt last, it is a common fault with the early models the runners a quite weak, try and get one from a scrap yard from a latest model as poss. these runners are much stronger and made slightly different but are much better quality, fiat will charge over £130 + VAT [:0] i got one from a scrapyard for £10. it is really easy to replace.

I have a bling* bling* shiny blue thing

I could do with losing a pound or two to be fair !

It's not the runners, they're fine. It's whatever lifts the catch when you pull the side lever to gain access to the back seats. I imagine it's just a cable that's snapped or become dislodged somewhere but I don't know where.

it is cable operated, the ends are crimped on and the cable can pull out of the crimping. you can get at the bottom part of the cable by removing the plastic from the side of the seat and lifting the seat cover. the crimp had pulled on our passenger seat, so i recrimped it where it was on the cable with a pair of pliers, and then bent the metal (the bit thats crimped on the cable) nearer to the crimp to take up and slack. i think to get at the top part you would have to alomst remove the seat back cover.I couldnt find anything on this in the Haynes manual tho'.
apologies for the repeated use of the word Crimp:I

yeah its not very good, years ago when i had an uno turbo, the haynes manual for it was great, all you needed to know. i think theyve lost interest in it.[xx(]
one other thing on the seats, if you have side air bags, the haynes book says to disconnect the battery for 10 mins before starting to ensure it is deactivated and safe.[:0]
