Bleed the cooling system, get that sorted out, then I would put a new set of HT leads on.

How long is it since they were last replaced?

they haven't been replaced...
unless they were changed before I had it and I've had it 3 years.

Definitly change the leads then before looking at things like coil pack etc, much cheaper also.

An airlock won't cause this. Airlocks cause overheating and boiling of the cooling system, not missfires.

Dan, id say replace the plugs and leads and also bleed the cooling system then take it from there. you will be able to plugs and leads for the price Lee has put all in from a motorfactors

one step at a time mate, if yu cure the issues on the cheap then excellent, if not its service items anyway mate so it will help long term anyway

Yeah I was thinking that those leads were fecking expensive! I think that mine were about a tenner on the 1.4 from Motosave.

I get the impression that one of the leads has broken down internally and thats why it's not firing properly.

true. going to get some plugs & Leads at lunchtime.

My garage did two for free for my when I suspected HG failure, they also did it again because they mechanic didn't have anything else on basically and thought he would check it! LOL

If you take it to a reputable garage and say you suspect HG failure, they may do it for free for you.

:(

Just got back from the garage...

Early signs of head gasket failure between cyl4 and outside of the engine. its rapidly losing water. had airlock sorted though.

Best get saving.

Dan

The head gasket is only around 18 pounds and labour around 20/30 here - but you may as well considder taking her a bit slower when you change it ;)

Ouch, get your water pump checked as GF had same prob on punto and that was a failed core plug that then stopped water pumping round that then lead to HG failure. I'd ring round only £200 for that fixing!
