My Bravo starts first time nearly everytime and it runs very smoothly but if i take it on a long run it cuts out and wont restart. It will turn over but wont fire.

If i take it on a short run it's fine but if i turn off the engine and attempt to restart it then i get the same problem.
Any ideas before i have to give in and pay a mechanic a fortune

The car had been sitting for almost a year before i bought it

same problem

i have a fiat 1.4, 12v i have just had a new engine put in,i took it for a mot this morning and it cut out during the emmission test. It will not re start, but lights on dash come on when you turn the key. They reckon it's an eletrical fault.does anyone have any ideas.
iv,e spent endless amounts of money on this car!!!!!!!

tash check the fuel cut off swith under the passenger footwell, worked when i had a 1.4, it may have popped up for some reason, you can not turn it off so even if not this at fault it will do no damage.

hope this helps you.

could be many things

It sounds like the cold start system is not shutting off ie you cannot start the car when the engine is warm/hot.
I don't know which sensor that would be, or even if it can happen on bravo's but a customer at the paint shop i used to work at once had it happen on a beemer.

Another customer reached into the engine bay, unplugged something and the car started first time.

He wouldn't say what it was he unplugged, as he wanted the bloke with the problem to use his workshop to fix it :)

Others on here with more knowledge may know which sensor it would be

I had an idea that it might be something like that but this being my first fiat i'm not familiar with it.

Anybody know what sensor this might be

crank sensor is the common culprit for this one, but getting a diagnostic would be a good idea first..

That appears to be one of the probable causes. Does anybody know tests for this. i've had a look at diagnostic tools but nobody sems to do them for fiats. i've heard differing stories that if youve got problems with your sensor then it wont just happen when warm
