Bravo flooded engine?

Hi,

Hopefully this should be quick and simple to answer. I started and moved my wife's Bravo 1.4 a couple of feet on the drive yesterday, turning off the engine straight away. This morning when trying to start the engine will turn but not catch. I have had this problem before on my Mazda where having the engine running from cold for a couple of seconds and then turning it off can leave the engine flooded, and I think this is what has happened here.

If this happens on my Mazda, I can either fully depress the accelerator when starting which disables the fuel injection, or pop the injection fuse out whilst starting, both which clears out the flooding.

Is there a recommended procedure on the Bravo?

Would really appreciate someone's help!

Many thanks!

It won't be flooded if its sat overnight.

I had a similar thing happen once with my 1.6, ended up disconnecting the battery for an hr and it sparked into life. I think the ECU just got confused.

Re: Re: Bravo flooded engine?

How can a computer get confused? It doesn't think for itself as it has a guideline of instructions to follow. lol! Nice one Tom :)

Re: Re: Re: Bravo flooded engine?

Don't ask me! I think the code ECU gets its knickers in a knot and won't unimmobilise the engine.

There was no spark and no fuel.

Uh huh

You should keep off them pills ;)

Just to follow up, I tried the full accelerator trick when starting, and after about 10 secs of starter motor turning, the engine finally caught, and after a bit of accelerator coaxing it was running normally.

End result, a happy wife, which cannot be a bad thing!

Won't be doing that again in a hurry (flooding the engine rather than having a happy wife!)

Thanks for peoples' help (more on Steve's thread about a similar problem then here!)
