Re: 105 JTD SX Weekend

1999 Bravo 80sx (1,2 16v)
86k!!
One previous owner (I purchased May 2001, 16k)
Serviced by anyone I can find cheap but not at reg services intervals (oops)

Only had a couple of problems excluding those you told to omit.

New exhaust back section (rotted) 60k
New Front section exhaust (possibly flexi pipe knackered by monkeys fitting back) 60k and a bit
Starter Motor repaired. (went dead month after clutch replacement at 72k - release bearing)
Temp sender unit/thermostat gone. Own fault for not keeping an eye on the temp stuck in bank holiday traffic for a good few hours. (Been like that for over 2 years now. Doesnt cause me grief)

Other little things include
tailgate lock stuck (not used)
rear washer pipe disconnected again

Additional note - Big front end smash Oct 2001 causing 2.5k of damage.

So a pretty bloody good car really! Its a 1.2 and I suffer from heavy right foot. She's served me well.

Re: Re: Re: 105 JTD SX Weekend

Brava 98 1.4s 28k

Ticking rear wiper motor ( still not fixed )
Ticking Relay under the bonnet at the back, been replaced twice still not fixed.
Drivers door pin snapped so door was click-click-clicking every time it was opened and shut, new door pin kind of solved it, think i'll need the bracket welded on though, metal feels very flimsy around this area of the door.
Fuel Injectors clogged up- wynns fuel injector cleaner fixed it and a reset ECU done the trick

Bravo Faults

I forgot!! Sunshine roof leaks. Have had this problem with two Tipos and two Bravos. I can only assume that it doesn't rain in Italy!!

Bump! I'm sure there are people who have not filled this in!

Re: Re: Bravo faults - the BIG list

Well, the HGT (1999 T reg 155 - 48K) has just gone through it's third MOT with , yet again, no probs at all (other than a blown headlight bulb - big deal!).

I have to say that I can't really fault her on reliability although I have had to replace the battery (4 years old) and rear wiper motor (3 1/2 years old). Unheard of reliability in my Fiat experience (Bravo is my 9th Fiat so far).

Still luvvin' it!

Shabash!

Re: Re: Bravo faults - the BIG list

1.2 16v 80SX
2000 W reg
43k miles

metalic purple paint easily scratched.
Rear Washer jet not working.

Other than that Nothing else wrong with it ;)

Re: Re: Re: Bravo faults - the BIG list

115 hlx 1999

worn track rod end at 37k - caused by over-enthusiastic driving. Cost about £80 parts and labour

failed rear wash wipe at 38k - fixed myself for free.

Clutch collapsed at 43k - cost £250 parts and labour to fix

Gearbox selectors failed at 44k - most likely damaged when the clutch went - cost £200 parts and labour to get the gearbox reconditioned (drives BEAUTIFULLY now).

4th and 5th gear failed at 44.5k - caused by garage not replacing some springs in the gearbox casing when they changed the gearbox. Fixed for free.

New battery at 45k - reasonable for a 4 1/2 year old car - £50ish, my dad bought it

Overall the only thing that has REALLY gone wrong and shouldnt have is the clutch. I dont know if fiat actually make oe clutches? But the clutches on the bravo do seem very weak.

So its been an expensive past 3 months for my car, but it was 100% reliable for the 18 months before that. Its cost me almost £600 in almost 2 years, which isnt very cheap but its the price you pay for not driving a bland eurobox.

Brava 100SX
Bought July 2002 42K kms, mnf Apr 2000

Re: Re: Bravo faults - the BIG list

1998 Bravo 1.4 SX (now owned by another member of the family)

- Backbox rotten after three years (Replaced by local garage)
- Cambelt tensioner replaced under warranty after it was heard to be ticking - at 20k miles
- Sunroof leak

Other stuff is just wear and tear
Brake pads, Tyres replaced at 24K, Battery after 4 years, breif hate of cold starts - new set of leads at 4 years - cured fault.

Nothing reported by current owner either that's outside of wear and tear items, needs rear shockers for next MOT, though, but it's six years old now and is still going beautifully.
