Technical Bravo 2008 multijet 1.6 self accelerating

I wonder if anyone can help out with an issue I have with my Bravo 1.6 multijet 2008.

I have noticed that when I am pulled up at lights or a junction, as I touch the throttle, once it hits 1000 revs the car then revs up to between 2000 and 3000rpm, on it's own.

On the my driveway I have tried to check this out. I hold the revs at 1000 rpm and the car will accelerate itself up to 2000 to 3000rpm quite quickly.

No fault codes are lights are showing up.

Also can anyone tell me what the small square sensor on the slam panel and to one side of the bonnet catch is for. Any info would be much appreciated.

sounds to me like you need a new foot throttle

Get it to a garage with an OBD diagnostic computer (it shouldn't be expensive) they can check for throttle problems even if there's no error light showing up on the dash.
