yer i have had the pump timing every way you can, and the cam your allowed half a tooth either way,i have tried it allways,but nothing seems to work.got me well stumped,cheers

Hello all,

White smoke usually means that the diesel is not burning as it should. this can be caused by low compression (meaning the cylinder pressure never goes high enough to cause compression-ignition) or poor combustion due to over fueling or a faulty injector. Timing issues may also cause it. If it runs fine at tickover and only starts happening above certain rev's, its likely a timing issue with the pump..

Personally i would say it sounds like a head gasket problem or water is getting into the engine somehow. If you remove the oil filler cap do you have any white residue on the inside of the cap?

yer i kinda think the pump is the problem, im trying to get a scrappy one to try and see if this sorts the problem,cheers paul

the oil is fine and their is no water loss,when you alter the pump timing the white smoke and the miss goes away, but then i have the problem of black smoke and lots of it,cheers paul
