brava sx 16 valve (R reg.)

can anyone help?
my daughter bought this car recently and yesterday the engine failed, we
were to find out due to a broken cam belt.
she heard no unusual noise prior to the engine stop but can anyone inform
me of the likely consequences of a broken cam belt, ie damage to valve
train, cylinder head etc.?

What mileage was on the car? Minimum damage is a few bent valves... Hoepfully the head isn't damaged but it's a possibility. Bad luck.
