Hi all . Was driving home the other night and had 1/4 of a tank , stopped at home and went out twenty mins later and the fuel gauge said it was empty ( needle started to move slowly and the stopped ) .
I went round the corner and chucked £20 in the tank and it still says empty

Any one got any ideas , I'm thinking the float on the sender unit

I will be following this one, mine reads half a tank one second, and after i turn it off and turn it on again, the low fuel light comes on and the needle stays at the bottom, then goes up again very slowly while driving.

The only thing I tried till now is to clean the connector for the fuel pump in the fuel tank, didn't really make a difference

i have now got it working as it should be :) .
what i did was take the sender/pump unit out and the contact on the variable resistor on the float arm was dirty . cleaned this off with a bit of petrol put it all back and has been working good as gold .

did not have to make any special tools or buy any .
used a old screwdriver which had the end broken off as a drift and tapped the collar round .

Coincidently my Bravo just started doing this as well. I hit the dash above the fuel gauge and the needle jumped to the correct place so in my mind it proves that my problem is with the gauge not the pump or sender. So you could try giving the dash a whack to prove its a problem with your guage.

Not sure how to fix mine yet.
