Hey guys well some might know I been having some noise issues with my drivers side wheel making a noise. Well I was on the M4, as you do overtaking at high speeds until my wheel sounds terrible and then the sound suddenly changes. When I brake the car pulls to the right and I took a photo of the front right brake and something tells me it don't look right? Can someone help me out here please?

Brake pad thickness looks ****e. Probably need new ones.

Whip the calipers off, it could be seized on one side. Calipers DO seize randomly sometimes its happened to me. New pads ate up in 6k miles (n)

Its probably not even been 600 miles since they were changed mate. Anyway I cant get the wheel off the MOT place lost the locking nut (n)

Thats the problem if its not looked at soon enough and diagnosed you could end up like I did quite cheesed off at new pads being burned up so fast!! :bang:

Lost?! Id hit the roof and demand they take the studs off as it was in their responsibility :mad: altho I had a car with locking studs with no key and got them off, if theres a will theres a way :D
 
One of my front brakes was stinking hot the other day - new pads and discs about a month ago. Either the pads have jammed or the caliper is sticking.

If its noisy the pads have gone down to the metal or maybe the wheel bearing has failed and the disc is holding the wheel onto the car. If the disc is chewed replace it along with new pads and sort out any bearing issues.
 
I will get some decent pictures up tomorrow will pop down to the MOT garage to see if they can "try" to find it again.

If not are there any checks I could do while the wheel is on? I got no money so cant buy new bolts if I break them off
 
Whitesei; your problem could be an internally perished flexible hose acting as a valve see other posts on this; this happened to me twice and I now always renew the flexible hose when I renew the calipers........
 
The car is a 2001 with 75K and the calipers seem to be ok. But if the caliper really isnt sticking I'll do the hoses. Thanks for the reminder.

Holding that thought - does anyone know which braided hoses I would need to buy?

After a quick look, the HGT doesn't seem to be listed. Does anyone know which other models use the same vented disc calipers.
