Hi
I`m having trouble with my brake pedal at the moment it`s like pushing a brick it`s become more obvious since i had an outer cv boot replaced,Could it be that the pads are contaminated with cv boot grease?

Cheers

Hi
Yeah i was going to say it felt like the pedal on a non servo car,
How would i tell if thats the case?
Would there be a drop in fluid or something?
Or could it be a problem with the vacuum pipe from the inlet manifold to servo?
Cheers
Adrian

OK from what I know:

1. Checking if this is the servo is very simple: if the pedal is exactly the same with or without the engine runnig then servo is not working. Specifically, if you put your foot on the brake and start the engine you should feel the pedal soften - that means servo springs to life...

2. I don't think there would be any drop in the fluid level.

3. As for tubing/piping - if something would be for example leaking air the engine would probably not run right, but I am no specialist...

Cheers,

Woj

Correct

Again correct, a split in the vacuum hose would introduce too much air into the engine.

Well done WOJ.

Hi
What kind of rough running problems?
My car has had a rough/variable speed idle since i bought it.
I just put it down to set up problems which would be sorted when i convert to mpi,But could this be a servo problem as well?
Cheers

Rough/variable idle speed could be serveral things, a vacum hose lose, split or blocked, the MAP sensor tube which goes from the MAP sensor to the air box again could be split, lose or blocked or the problem I had was the idle stepper motor and the potentiometer

Sam.

Hi
Yeah i`ve replaced the t/b with a known good one,and checked the map sensor,
So was just thinking that maybe the solid brake pedal is part of the same problem
Cheers

mmm sounds servo could be a fault but.... do you use the car every day? I know with my Cav that as its not used on an every day that the brakes take a few miles to get working to full potential,

stickey calipers coupled with a rich fuel mix, that means let air through the manifold ie less vacume for the servo so more brake pressure requied
