I set off from home today, and got to the end of the road. I tried to slow down at the junction, and the brake pedal was jammed . No brakes.

After a couple of hard stomps on the pedal, there was a grinding noise, and the pedal freed itself, and was fine for the rest of the journey.

Any guesses as to whether it was a random bit of grit stuck in the pedal, or a sign of something more serious?

It may or may not be related, but on getting to the shopping centre, the front right wheel was noticeably hotter than the left. Probably a sticky brake caliper. That may explain why the Panda seems a bit under-powered at the moment.

I will probably have to take it in to the garage to have that looked at anyway.

It's a 2009 Panda 1.2 Dynamic Eco if that matters.

lets not play a guessing game

sounds like you should not carry on driving your car

sounds like you have more than one fault

sounds like your lucky it wasn't more serious

Faulty brakes are the lead cause of death or injury in an accident caused by mechanical failure.

Please don't take any chances. The whole brake system needs checking ASAP

The garage couldn't find anything wrong with the brake pedal mechanism, so it must have been something momentarily trapped in/under it.

There was a sticky brake caliper, as I suspected.

So it looks like I'll be keeping the Panda a bit longer.
