I have a Fiat Ducato Home car 2.0 JTD. The spark ignition doesn't work on boiler or cooker, no light or fan on cooker. The water safety valve on the boiler has no power, I've checked the 7.5 fuse, that is ok. Please help!

John , there's normally some battery's which you may find at the bottom of your gas fire , these control the spark on cooker ,fire , and boiler . They will be normal batteries , AA , or aaa , Gary

You have a DC power problem from the habitation battery. All the things you mention are supplied by the habitation battery. Start at the battery and work your way through. Do the interior lights work?
To get any real help we need to know more. What year is your Home Car and can you confirm it has an ELECTROBLOCK control unit?

Thank you for the replies, the year is 2006, and electric system Calira EVS 38/20-DS/IU. There is 12.5 v coming out of the power unit, and a plug that splits the the power to the cooker and the boiler still 12.5 v, if I switch on the boiler.or cooker fan, light, spark ignition, water safety valve the voltage drops to zero.
many thanks Young John.

Hi,
The voltage dropping to zero usually suggests a dead short; however if it happens whichever appliance you switch on it is unlikely that they have all gone faulty simultaneously! Also one of the fuses should have blown in this instance.

My money is on a dirty contact or connector somewhere; it will pass enough current to register a voltage but fails when serious current is required.

Alternatively if everything works if you connect mains hook-up then there may be a fault in the Power Supply Unit (I've never come across a Calira unit)

There is another possibility, although this is just a guess - if all these devices are supplied from an electronic control unit this may incorporate a technique called foldback current limiting as a safety device. A low-value resistor is used to monitor the current and if the voltage developed across it exceeds a preset value the output voltage is switched to a low level. If the value of this resistor has gone high or there is a high-resistance solder joint in that part of the circuit the foldback can occur as soon as a load is applied.

Hi I would like to thank all who replied to my problem. "I've fixed it", I followed the wire back from the boiler it went under the floor behind the cooker, as the wire went behind the bumper, I saw the wire had burnt through, I repaired it and it all works fine.
many thanks Young John

Hopefully you put the wire in something tough, such as a length of garden hose, so it does not have a chance to burn out again!
