Well after being annoyed the low mileage (the cylinder head looks nearly new) engine was seized solid, I embarked on inspecting the body today. I wasnt surprised to find both floorpans need replacing, no biggy and panels cant be too hard to find. Also the rear ends of the sills needs doing, not the worst ive ever seen but not amazing. The worst bit though is the windscreen frame, its rotten on the drivers side lower corner and it is actually flexible!! The top edge has been victim of a poor windscreen job I think, and its really really bad. The dashboard was full of rust flakes from the screen frame. What do people think? I reckon it will be too hard to repair safely and strongly, certainly beyond my ability.

The worst thing though is the 'work' done on it before. Everything is half cocked, half done, half tight etc etc, thats the problem with taking on a half done project. There is also overspray on the windscreen, on the dash, everywhere basically, not neatly done and barely masked up. Thick yellow paint on all the electrical connectors too. It just annoys me, start one bit and finish it properly before moving on!!

hi auto_blanco

When you say it is flexible do you mean the windscreen pillar or the outer pillar skin. There are repair panels here

If it is the pillar itself moving then you need to cut away the outer skin and repair the inner which would mean taking the dash out i would think. You would also need to make sure it is welded back in the right place for the roof and screen to fit.It can be done, take some pics so we can see what is going on a bit better

ah thats good to know, I reckon with decent panels it would be doable then. I will call Ernie the welder to do it, I dont mind doing floors etc but I dont want to warp anything in the screen area.

It seems the outer has rotted through on the drivers side, and the inner in about the same place and up round the corner to the top edge too.

Hey Auto_blanco.

Sounds like you have a pretty big project on your hands there! If you plan to go ahead with it i have a spare engine for my own project if ur interested. I had planned to keep my engine in my car so i could use it while i had this one rebuilt, but i am now thinking about using a bike engine and building a bolt-on diff to transfer the power.
Its a 1500 and seems in reasonable condition.
