Don't know about BMW but the Stilo steering has to be set with Examiner to tell the car where straight ahead is. Suspect BMW is likely to be the similar.

no it some thing to do with the traction control mate gonna sell it for 2k less than its worth as he dont like bmw dealers, so trying to find out if it is a dealer own thing :shrug:
Read in eLEARN some while ago that when the electric power steering unit is replaced or if the steering wheel is turned more than 360° whilst disconnected from the steering rack, the system needs to be reset with Examiner.
I think there was also mention of a locking bolt that needed to be fitted when doing anything with the power steering.
