I chose to have the port on my 500 - it was a free option - and bought the Blue & Me TomTom at the same time as the car. My previous car had a integral satnav, so I was going to have to buy a new one anyway, and I like the functionality of the TomTom.

It's been a great satnav, I use it to select music from my iPhone, and I like the lack of wires. Also, when my husband's satnav packed up, we bought an additional screen-mounted cradle so we can now share it across cars. We rarely need it at the same time, and it means we'll only have to pay for one traffic update subscription.

Definitely worth a look!

I could be wrong on this but I read somewhere (I'd have to find it) that the Tom Tom updates are linked to an account and not the device so if you have 2 TTs registered to one name you might be able to update BOTH for the price of the one sub. This was to allow for a TT being stolen or damaged and you're able to re-instate the updates without having to pay for them.
In a 500 there's a good place to hid a sat nav ;) providing you have not speced leather or the sound upgrade or possibly the memory seat option.

Yes it will work without the 68R option port providing you have the AUX input beside the USB. It was tested by Flashyphotos...

P.S. Did anyone on the FF buy that TT Live 2 from the 'preferrred ebayer' that was advertised for £230 ?

Thanks for that,

I have the single USB with no AUX with the windows logo. However it plays my ipod tracks without an adapter (which dealer said I might need).

I have a perfectly serviceable TomTom go live xl so will probably stick with that until I get a 5OO with the 68R port fitted.

Good to know though:)

I bought one from that ebay user a few weeks ago. Tonight was the first time I had the opportunity to try it. Everything works just fine plugged into the dashboard socket. No rattles either, however we did have some fun trying to pair it with the Blue and Me. Selecting the TomTom to pair was easy but not Blue and Me. After pressing every button I could find I tried the voice command and that did the trick!

URL below and it came from here.
Note that the TT Live 2 is based on the 1000 model.
