OK im gonna get my brakes upgraded to some drilled/vented disks any suggestions as to what works and looks best ?

Also for something like this will my insurance absoloutely NEED/HAVE to know ?

Why you changing the brakes, just for looks or you not happy with them?

My brakes took about 5K to bed in properly - they were a bit scary at first, but now I can't fault them. I think the long bedding in period is down to the pads they fit - I've heard the Selespeeds are fitted with different ones due to the increased loading.

Purely for the looks more than anything else..
I was gonna do the brakes and keep the alloys that i have now as they would show off the brakes etc... BUT my insurance company say I have maxed out on the amount of mods that they allow... im only allowed 6 from the standard car...
1 : Sunroof

2 : Leather interior   :(

3 : Lowering

4 : None Standard Alloys

5 : Powerflow Exhaust

6 : A bodykit Extra

So if i want my car to brake better and be less likely to crash then I can't ??????

So unless the insurance co change their minds ,then i will just have to get the alloys changed to something bigger that don't need the better looking brakes behind them.
Its really anoying because the mods I have aren't exactly extreme.

Are the first 2 the leather and sunroof factory fit?

If so that sounds a bit tight.

What insurance company are you with?
Yep, both factory fit, but as they are optional extras they were classed as mods, as well as my 17" fiat alloys that were first on the car.. I got some OZ superleggera's and had to pay another £67 even though i had paid for the Fiat ones before..

elephant.co.uk I must admit though they are VERY cheap for me..just a pain about modding my car...
It states on my policy that uprated brakes is a mod, so is there any way i could put better vented discs on without them being classed as uprated ??

That sounds like a right pain. When I told my insurance company I had a Stilo Dynamic with Sunroof they didn't say anything. Don't see why you should pay the extra just for those options.

Stan..

The Abarth will already have vented discs (as will the rest of the range probably).

You should probably consider getting standard sized discs but perhaps grooved ones to enhance the looks.

I got Tarox grooved discs for my Punto HGT but purely because the standard ones couldn't cope with a backroad thrash. The garage made no comment when the car went in for various services and warranty work and I'm sure an insurance assessor probably wouldn't notice.

I was always under the impression that getting larger sized discs would also involve getting new calipers, etc and is likely to cost at least £1000.
