Hi all,

Me and 3 sisters aren't meant to be, a last minute problem at work meant i had to pull the entry, however I did get out at a track day in p!ssing rain at Elvington on Saturday. The car was awesome, just enough power and fantastic grip and balance. There's a video on the website of me hassling a 350bhp RWD Sierra Cosworth and the Javelin hire MX5. All good fun.

Next stop South Wales in a couple of weeks, i've started the rain dance already.

Cheers, John

Blimey its been a long time... due to work being a nightmare (I work for a bank with the initials B & B) i've done very little with the car since I broke it at Llandow back in July. Happily with a new job on the horizon I'm back up and running.

The clutch disintegrated on a 5th to 4th change which I thought was a bit odd. I've now replaced it with a Techno2 cerametallic paddle clutch and uprated pressure plate. Thankfully i've also diagnosed the exact problem with the old one... originally I thought the pressure plate had overheated and lost its tension, however when I took the gearbox off, all this stuff fell out...

...and the flywheel side of the friction plate was almost as new...

...but the pressure plate side had been completely destroyed!

Here's the new one...

Its pleasantly driveable, not that much heavier or sharper than the std road clutch :)

The moral of the story is when EBC write 'not for competition use' on the box, they do mean it

good stuff! Where did you get it from? Do you know what its rated too?

Nice to hear it's drivable. Think it would even be good enough for a daily runner?

I haven't looked back, but what flywheels/clutch do you run. A 180, 190, or 200mm?

Cheers,

Kristian

Hi Kristian,

I sourced it from Walkers (c£200 all in). Not sure what its rated too, but I set out my future plans to them (c130bhp 100lbft) and they said it would be fine. It really is a pretty driveable, so I would say it would be ok as a daily drive - i've no idea on wear rate though. I went for a sprung centre (they do a solid centre) to offer a bit of protection to the gearbox as I can't afford to do that again!

The flywheel is the std 180mm albeit much much lighter.

Cheers, John

That picture looks kinda familiar. though far worse than when I pulled mine out of the track Sei', so forget about 'not for competition use' & try heavily modified engine.

Whats the black vertical bit of metal on the front of the car in the middle? I've seen this on a few cars now I've no idea what it is? Lap timing beacon? Magic air splitting device? Second generation externally mounted flux capacitor?
