You have to watch the air pressure areas. below the windscreen is low pressure so a bonnet vent at the back of the bonnet will probably suck air out of it rather than into it.

The standard way of doing things is to put the intake as close to the front of the car.

I have a reverse vent on the top of the bonnet to get the hot air out, as mine won't go under the car thanks to the sump guard.

Cheers

Could you do what the mini's do and raise the rear of the bonnet an inch of two. or just put 3 or 4 holes along the back??

I don't know whether I could stomach Doune, not the track, but the snooty organisers. Knockhill could be fun, I found an old video tape yesterday of me doing the 1990 National Rallycross Championship round at Knockhill. I still didn't have any hair!!

I know what you mean about organisers, Harewood can sometimes be a bit like that - it's worse when its a British Championship round.

Hi all,

Santa (AKA Snr Bacci from Firenze) delivered an early christmas present today...

Next stage, drop the 'box and its off to the gearbox builders for a fettle (ie new syncros) and assembly.

:D

Got the 'box out today, first time i've done it with the engine in. No problems, but as usual seperating the the gear linkages proved fiddly. Also dismantled the drive shafts as the diff comes with uprated Bacci items. They also use the larger Punto 75 tripods, thankfully I took the driveshafts when I bought engine & 'box from a Punto 75 eighteen months ago - knew they'd come in useful! Unfortunately only one of them is salvegeable so its a trip to the dealer tomorrow. 50% success rate on that one.

The 'box will go off to be rebuilt this week, in the meantime i'm taking the opportunity to move the gear selector inside the car, run the fuel lines inside, and may swap to a smaller alloy tank - that way I get a straighter run for the exhaust. Busy, busy busy :)

I've been shopping (again). New brake calipers and master cylinders and an assortment of fixtures and fittings to facilitate the 'box refitting. As an aside, anyone thinking of a fitting an lsd will need to budget for 55quids worth of the specialist oil that the damn thing needs - bloody thing had better make a difference after all of this!

The new uprated drive shafts are all rebuilt, and once the gear change has been moved inside i'm all set to reassemble. I'll get some pics this weekend.

Cheers, John
