During the cold weather my ulysse 2.0 2004 petrol auto has started beeping and the engine light flashes and the display reads anti-pollution device inoperative but the car drives normally and doesn't use any extra fuel - it will reset itself after a few weeks but a cold snap brings it back - can anyone tell me how to reset the light and beep manually - also the display for the sat nav has gone there is a tiny plastic blanking plate which seems to hide a bulb holder can anyone tell me how to get the thing out ! apart from these 2 things the car is excellent and far better than the galaxy it replaced apart from the dealers who are atrocious the worst I've ever experienced anyone know a good specialist in North London or hertfordshire Oh I nearly forgot is there any problems with replacing dipped h/light bulbs I should know about ?

There was a software update for the ECU, not sure if it will fix the problem but we had this a couple of times and once we had the recall done for the ECU it never came back. You can't reset the problem yourself, it needs a EOBD cable and software or the garage can do it via the Examiner. This would also give you the code for the fault so you get an idea of what is causing the problem.

The plastic blanking plate is for the infra red sensor, not a bulb holder. You can get to the screen by pulling the whole holder up, it is just clipped in. I think there is a backlight which you can replace.

Isn't your car under warranty for the anti pollution problem ?

Good luck.

We used DBS in Hertford. Not bad not brilliant.
Dipped headlamp bulbs are ok but tricky to seat correctly.
You have to do it by feel. Do the passenger one first as it's easier to access.
On the driver side remove the lidf of the electics box behind the lamp and jiggle it slightly out of the way (can't ever seem to pull it out) This gives a bit more hand room.
The trick is that a clip needs pushing towards the front of the car then to one side then released. Look first with a mirror an torch and see hat the deal is then do it blind.
The tricky bit is the holding spring will drop into the hole as you pull the old bulb out and make it tricky to get the new one in. I sue the osram extra bright bulbs from powerbulbs. Don't touch the glass with you finger and if you do clean it before installing. I prefer to do it at night then I can get the bulb in place and plug the connector in switch the headlamps on and check it's aligned. If it's wrong you can wiggle and twist it till it drops into place. It wil get hot so don't hang around.

Thanks for all the info it's much appreciated - car unfortunately out of warranty Feb 1st. !!!!!

I have a copy of the last software update for ther Ulysee. We have it on ours and and it gives MP3 playback from CD's cool.
It is a bit of a risk apply it but I've done 3 on ours with no problem.
Have you tried resetting the RT3 unit? long hold of the dark button.
Re the back light. the whole unit came out fairly easily but on ours it was LEds as the lights and it was one of the chips driving it gone (had a hole burnt in it) was replaced under warrenty.

:nono:
It's a different SW update. Poggy was talking about The ECU (car/engine) software and you are talking about the RT3 software.
