How much should I be looking at paying for a new battery on my Sei Sporting. T reg.

The battery is not holding its charge so it is being jumped every day.

Any ideas?

if battery is not charging then you will need a new altinator!!

the drive belt may also need to be changed

have you checked the water level in the battery? if it's low it won't be helping, top it up with distilled water.

dunno about the cost of the battery i think about £30

a battery has natural internal resistance, so even tho your not using the battery it is losing power any way.

if you can remove the battery and very carefully look into the cells, if any of the plates look bent then you will need a new battery.

Yes and no, it's a good idea to check over the altenator and belt but a shot battery won't be any good even if connected to the National Grid overnight.

Hi,
Best thing to do is a voltage check at the battery when the engine is running, it should read about 14.2v, if it does then your alternator is fine, time to get a new battery..

Thanks

somewhere close to 14v is ok give or take .2v but more likely to be battery then altenator in my experiance expect to pay upto £30 from local motor factor or closer to £40 from kwik-fit etc

if wanna do it cheap take the battery out and the plastic tray underneath it bend the bit of metal that holds the battery in place with an adjustable spanner and put put a £20 escort battery in and make sure the clamp is on nice and tight

thats what i done after nearly fainting after my local motor factors told me they wanted £45 + vat for a little duracell battery
