I just ordered an ;

optima red top (muchos power)


cage (recognise the pic Aaron?)


and bulkhead connector (RC will be impressed :devil: )


Which will finally give me the room to fit my new horn (maybe a guide to follow for that as well).


Me think s I should cut my credit card up :devil:

Its a nice battery that, we have one that we stick in our offroader or boat, or tractor when thats dead. like you said.....muchos power

i went for the little red top battery...lighter

Where you get the bulk head thingy from??

Yeah, I was toying up Varley/DMT Redtop, but it's not really for my application. I need a bit more power for the sub, stereo etc, unlike your rally cinq

The cranking amps and power will be nice though, as will the weight redistribution

I got the bulkhead thing from demon tweeks...it is available elsewhere, but for once DT was the cheapest ! Still cost about £15 delivered, so not the budget option of a grommet for 20p

I got same battery as Brooky. actually might be smaller (what Ah rating is it?) either way it spins the cento engine over just as good as standard! might fit it soon if i can be arsed.

Maybe went a bit overboard with the wire. Picked some up locally today, 50mm2, 345 AMP. At least there will be very little voltage loss over that size cable

Just got to source fittings for it now

I looks quite workable and is still flexible. It's going to be fun soldering the connectors though. I'll need a blow torch

hell i used a blowtorch on mine and they were 25mm2!

I could crimp them, but its the hassle of taking them somewher eto be crimped. Tool is about £60!!! and i'd rather not risk bodging it, solder is prob a bit more reliable than me having a crack

i packed the connection with solder, cripped it, and then blow torched it to melt the solder inside

Talk of solder melting under high load, but i can't see that happening unless shorted?

you're not going to melt that cable

yeh would take a lot to melt the solder due to high load! the plastic on the wire would melt before the solder!

I only crimped mine as ive got a hydraulic crimper at work and lugs by the plenty

Are you using the red top as a secomd battery to power just the stereo, or as a single battery to power the stereo and the car?
