Battery connectors , Stop:Start, sensors

Ive seen a lot of threads in the last year with people having questions..or problems.. related to the connections on the top of their batteries.

Ive got 3 x 2012 /18 S:S small FIATS

on swapping batteries around I have noticed a few things.. which may prove useful

All 3 have the same spec battery.. despite engine body and age all being different.

Panda twinair

I came to swap batteries and discovered differences from the 1242ccFIRE in my 500

PANDA LAYOUT

Details:

The negative battery clamp come with a 'spike' with a Push.on connector

To release the connector..Press the RED tab.. I did this for ease of access at battery change on the Panda

Positive:

A clamp bolt with a 10mm hex nut

I found it was assembled differently on the panda - hidden out of sight..and tricky to get a spanner on..

a 10mm hex socket did ok, but I reversed the bolt.. so you can see the nut

Makes it a simpler task for next time I need to undo the clamp


The Positive clamps tend to have 2 or 3 threaded stubs.. where additional cables can be added

if you find a broken connection here.. you can often trap the remnants of the broken fitting back under the nut.. so the car is still driveable

Battery quality:

The original FIAT group fitment is made by Exide

The 2012 battery is still in service
Stop start hasnt worked for years.. but is fine to run the engine and other services

No warnings about PowerSteering etc
