Technical Battery, Alternator or Starter Motor probs...

Well, its been a good month, nothing gone wrong since last month. I have enjoyed my first ever whole month without problems!!

Anyway, went to start the car last night, dash lights came on very dimly and the car wouldnt start. When I went to strat it the lights on the dash just went out. I got a bump start from my brother and it started fine from that and got me home ok. When I got home (15 minute drive) I turned the car off to see if it would strat again, it was exactly tyhe same, dash lights were dim on first turn of the key and it wouldnt start so I bumped it again, drove to the bottom of the road (100 metres) and back up again, turned it off and then went to turn it back on again... lo and behold, it started fine, everything lit up as it should etc...

Parked on a hill last night to help me bump it this morning but I didnt need to, it was fine again?

Any ideas anyone? Was thinking alternator belt loose and not charging batt but it started fine after not starting before? Could it just be a loose connection somewhere?

Really ready to beat the crap out of this car now!! [}]

Sounds similar to what i had earlier this month. I put it down to the alternator belt so changed that. can you hear the belt squealing at all?? oh, and check your battery terminal connections too

i'd say alternator belt too, either that or a duff battery

Checked terminals etc... all looks cushty. Alt belt squeels a little when cold, stops when its been running a couple of minutes. Its just weird that it wouldnt start, then it did a minute later??

Check the earth strap from battery to chassis.

Will have a look this weekend, pete.

Me and me dad are going to give it a once over this weekend (...with a sledgehammer ) going to tightent the alt belt and check the starter motor solenoid etc... all the connections.
