AVG v Avast!

Downloaded and installed AVG 8 weeks ago. Installed on desktop and it works a treat, installed on laptop and keep getting error message when trying to run a scan :bang: Uninstalled using Revo uninstall which removes all registry entries and the program group, basically everything windows uninstall is supposed to do but doesn't. Downloaded again, and did a complete fresh install, low and behold, same again :bang::bang:

I will be looking on the AVG forum to see if anyone else has had this problem.

If i can't solve it then i guess i will be going back to AVG7 on laptop.

they wont bring out updates for avg7 so you will only be protected against viruses up until a certain date.

avg 8 works fine on my pc (XP)

Still using Avast, getting regular, better and less intrusive updates and no infections on 3 laptops.

Guess i won't be downgrading to 7 then.

I have just been playing around with AVG 8 doing manual selective scans, tick everything except my documents and it will run a scan no problem, if i try and scan my documents this is where i get the error message!

tried AVG a few times, Avast every time, much much better!

AVG and Avast is better than AVG or Avast.
