aux grande punto cable

hi i have a grande punto and have bought a lead off ebay to go into the back of my radio. i was just wondering where abouts should the calbe go?i put it in the left side of the radio it slotted in there but when i connect it to my mp3 player theres no sound.

i know theres other threads but just wanted to get this particular one noticed

have you pushed the cd button twice to set the head unit to auxillary input?

yes i have put it into aux mode.all i get is static.my lead is one of 2 parts, one side 3.5mm jack to rca and then rca to mini iso. i have tested the rca to 3.5mm jack on my stereo at home and theres not a bother with it. woud there be a problem with the mini iso end.no way of testing it. can someone give me directions on how i should be connecting the mini iso end just so im slottin it in right. there seems to be only one place it will go into
