Can any one point in the right direction please.
I have a 2000 W reg 1600 auto Brava with genuine 32000 miles on clock. My dads old car. Regularly serviced, when cold 1st to 2nd gear change does not occur until at least over 4000 revs. When normal temp gear change between 1st and 2nd can be not as slick as it should.
I can only think of four things.
1, Change gear oil. (scheduled this week)
2. Main shaft sensor faulty. (will check ohms )
3. Change the torque converter.
4. Change the Ecu under back seat.
All other aspects of gear box ok.
Kick down ok, manual change ok reverse ok.
So before I start to spend money any help please would be appreciated.

I don't know about when warm but my old auto cars wouldn't change up easily when cold.

1st - 2nd would always be a pain but once warm it was fine.

If you are changing the fluid its as well going a bit further and change filter as well
