Hello all, I have seen a nice Idea from 2004 with 90000 miles , with a automatic gearbox. What do you think about the automatic gearbox?
Thank you, regards from Holland

There is a whole thread devoted to selespeed / dualogic failures

If I needed an automatic I would get a proper auto box.

These robotized manual boxes are probably OK when new, but with age and mileage I wouldn't trust it as far as I could throw it.

Typically failing seals causing hydraulic issues, not many places keen to repair them.

If it's cheap and you feel confident about rebuilding hydraulic components is the only way I would consider it.

Here's the thread Jack mentioned: https://www.fiatforum.com/threads/the-one-and-only-dualogic-failure-thread.425006/

FWIW I have a 109,000 miles on a 19 year old Idea 1.4 petrol Dualogic. In 16 years owning it I have 'only' had about four occassions when it has dropped into neutral. It's probably done in once in about five years?? In the years I have owned it I have replaced the Dualogic fluid and the gearbox oil, and lately topped up the gearbox oil as it was a bit low. It's sad that some have had a terrible experience with their Dualogics. Mine has been a good example I guess.

Not sure about the rest of Europe but I don't ever seem to see many when over their and they were a significant sales failure for fiat hence the short run. They don't just have auto gearbox issues they have multiple electrical issues and because of their relative rarity and age, there are not the spares readily around to fix the. I would not walk away from an auto Fiat Idea I would run..... fast.

Good idea!🦧
