Hi all....PLEASE HELP!!!

Could pack 1 went. Fault code P0351- Change coil pack. Ht leads and sparks. Still wouldn’t work.

Put the ecu wire from coil pack 2 on to coil pack one. Cleared codes. CAr wouldn’t start then I had could pack 2 error.

Plug wire from coil pack one in to could pack two. And car started. Still coil pack two code.

Swapped sparks from cyl 2/3 into cyl 1/4 and vice versa.

And changed coil packs to back standard setup cylinders 2/3 back to normal but still no fire in cyl 1/4

So from what I can gather ...

The issue is NOT Ecu failure.
The issues is NOT HT LEADS
THE ISSUE IS NOT SPARK PLUG

compression test from garage confirmed all okay.

Tried new plug and play ecu just incase, nothing.

So the issue lies directly with cylinders 1/4

WHAT ON GODS EARTH ELSE CLULD BE CAUSING THEM NOT TO FIRE??

Easier if you google as there are several diagrams/video that will make things clear, check if you have disturbed cam position sensor/is it duff as well.

It might be an idea to have the new coil pack checked, just because its new it can still be duff. it can be a bugger to sort this kind of thing out, best advice is start again with the basics and go through the checks.

Well not much In the way of numbers, facts and figure...but the coil pack is sparking. Isn’t there a LED test I can do or something , I remeber reading it but can’t find it anyway

So when swapping coil packs over
So 1 does 2 and 2 does 1
The fault code STAYS with the same 2 cylinders not firing

Which rules out HT and sparks and coils

This means fault is either the ecu or wiring

Puntos are known for ECU failure,
You can test as much as you can before ruling out ecu failure

Check power - full constant igniton fed
So a test light and check it can carry current

The Ecu controls the negative side to open and close
Id suggest defo current load testing the wires to the ecu plug not the ecu....

And defo defo do a NOID light or a decent test light to ensure the ECU is firing the coil

If the phlonoc wheel aint been touched and timing is spot on...
Id be sending the ecu for testing / repair....

Thanks Ziggy. I been told by three different ecu repair “specialists” my ecu can’t be repaired cause of how it’s manufactured they can’t open it apparently. And trust me I’ve looked all over the Ebay for a second hand ecu loads of ECUs with the code IAW5AF.P3

Sadly mine ends in P4.

***update***

Did an LED TEST , both leds on could pack one and two flash / blink

I thought I’d pull out the spark plugs and change them again.

On pulling the “number 1” spark plug out it had a black rubber ring attached to it (just found out it was the plug graver from my wrench haha) and I noticed oil on the spark plug.

Am I jumping the gun in thinking I have a piston problem?

Update.

New coil pack. Took new spark from tool box and connected to ht from coil plug, but no spark. Spark was seen from the coil pack jumping to the battery clamp....This is a new coil with new ht leads

I didn’t earth the plug. I didn’t know I had to.

I’m two days away from buying a new car. Ha!

Yes - the threaded part of a plug is actially the earth return back to the battery essentially

Tbh tho - i hold about 1cm to 1inch away and if the spark is strong enough it jumps with physically touching the rocker cover or engine mount for example

It tells me instantly the spark is good and strong

Okay ive put everything back and I have grounded the spark and I starting the engine/ or actuating the coil pack , the spark plug is sparking.

So with all the above info we know the ecu, coils, leads and plugs are okay.

The new plugs came out had bit of oil on them.

Should I mess around and throw more money replacing the cam or crankshaft sensor?

I did accidentally put coil pack b on the cyl 1/4 the first time I put it all back together. Though I heard it backfire on starting up. Could this be the issue?
