Yeah I've seen this before. Pretty chilling, particularly bits like this:

"The day after the accident, this place on the bridge provided a good view of the gaping crack in the nuclear containment vessel that was ruptured by the explosion. Many curious people came here to have a look and were bathed in a flood of deadly x-rays emanating directly from the glowing nuclearcore. "

Digi, it's fine, neither me nor stu can find it searching but we are both sure we posted it, I'll let you off though :p

We had a big discussion about the fact it won't be stable for much longer.

Yep, the reactor is posing a considerable danger for the future and atm, there's nobody taking action.

Yeah, they tombed the reactor.. They rushed it (as anyone would) and it's slowly breaking away. But how the hell will they go about fixing it and rebuilding. Very scarey.

I said them, not you :p

In all seriousness it's a job that somebody MUST do. I was hoping somebody like ROman Ibranovich (spelling?) would do it out of the goodness of his heart (given that it seems he is a tosser from what I have learnt). I know that robots at the time failed at the job (hence the army was brought in, many of which died) because of the radiation, however, let's talk now, with it roughly contained and with much better robotic abilities.

I suggest a huge perimeter be built using everything from robotic planes to land cranes etc. where possible. THis would be approximately 30metres thick of concrete and lead layers., no roof would be put on at first. Using helicopters specifically built for lifting blocks we now create several inner barriers, each of which get taller and have roofs placed on, again, very thick, supported by the inner walls. This layering system with air gaps will be good for the containment.

At the end of all of this a final large roof would be put on the total overal unit. Sensors will be laced within the whole building to try and dectect whether the system is working or not.

All of the machine would be custom built at a cost of billions or more. It should be made to last PROPERLY before it's too late. We know how to beat radiation (lead stopping a lot of it over a short distance it's just we don't yet have such equipment to put it into place safely. But it HAS to be done.

Then the surrounding area has to be considered....

This sort of idea has been suggested before just nobody wants to put the money in.

Maybe the area needed it...it's been cleansed of human life and flora and fauna are flourishing...surely that's got to say something, that natural environments develop better with excessive amounts of radiation than normal radiation and an excess of human life...

I just saw the page again, unbeliavable.

Not sure if the area needed it, I would have to say that the wildlife (be it plants or animals) probably find it very difficult to live.

I have never asked anybody this before but am i am on my own in one day wishing to walk around a cost town?

Ok, I didn't read the website, because there were far too many words, but I did look at the pictures.

Anyway, is the [in]famous ghost rider? I think not, because I'm sure he is in copen haagen. If you've heard of him, you'll know what I mean, and if you've seen the videos you'll definatly know... paul you won't like him, and neither will helz because he does naughty things and breaks the speed limit(by a lot).

EDIT: Read some of it now... very interesting.

No, we all like the idea of a bit o' looting :D

paul, i dont think theres many who'd want to fly a hellicopter around over there. Ive just read through the whole site and it mentions radioactive (fuel) dust. A lot of it mixed with rainwater to form a nasty radioactive 'soup'

I think something like a helicopter will kick up an awful lot of this dust with fatal consequences.

Alex - the site has nothing to do with ghost rider
