Depends how fast you go ;)

The spoiler on the HLX and HGT is not there for show, its there to keep the back of the car from lifting at speed.

The first Audi T(wa)Ts had no spoiler and had a habit of going arse first into the scenery. Now they all have that spoiler.

Re: re

Ok...... Vents!!

My Citroen ZX did summit very clever withthe underbonnet sound dedening.. it duckted cold air from the front grill, between the bonet and sound padding.. and straight into the intercooler..... which to be honnest made the poor giry suck like..... well suck!

Only diesel ive ever had that red lines in 5th.

I was considering a bonnet vent for my skoda... as there is a idented vent there already.... this would help force aire into the rally ram air induction kit... but they stoped making them.. so i didn't bother... differnt story...

Just think.. why doe i want 1.. wot wil it look like... wot will every1 else think.... if u wanna just ram some air into ur induction kit.. either poke it out the side wing.. or remove a front fog light.. and pipe it direct!!

Bonnect scoops look silly if they didnt' come out the factory with them... bit like LEXUS lights!!!!

Re: re

How about something like this?

You could connect your cold air feed pipe to it...

(Just a single bullet vent)

The only thing that would worry me is water going in there...

Re: re

take that longish middle one, and turn it the other way. move it nearer to the back and you would have a nice vent methinks. how would that be for letting heat out, without disturn=bing the air TOO much?

Re: re

Here is another interesting thing, the Mk3 (I think) Celecia GT4 (last one with popup headlights) had a forward facing scoop. They made a limited edition version with more power after they won the world rally and that had a REARWARD facing bonnet vent.

Re: re

I've had the undertray removed from my 1.8, doesnt seem to have made any difference apart from making the engine alot easier to work on!

Re: re

and.......

mate... the hole idea of modding ur car.. is not what every1 else thinks.. its to make u happy.. make u stand out... and be unique to you!!

Just look at my car.... I'll never see 1 like mine.... anywhere EVER!!! pic a scoop you like the look of and fit it..... as for the sh!t it might suck in... why do you think they have filters over them.... its the filter that stops the rubish getting in, not that gives you the extra power.....

If you don't know why an induction kit improves power, then have a little read or ask.

If you do, then stop worrying so much you will just have to clean it more often depending on what scoop you choose.

I like the scoop by the way.... glad you didn' tlink to a scooby scoop!!

Re: re

Do you know why an induction kit might give more power? ;)

If you read the earlier messages he specifically asked about having a vent to supply cold air to a filter. So unless the filter is right at the back of the engine that vent ain't gonna help now is it. DUH! :)

Re: re

I think we need to identify.... do you want a scoop for looks.. or to preform a purpose!

Tom... you are right... that scoop will only send air to the back of the engine.... might keep the engine cool tho.... but as we know.. that can cause different problems.

Tim--- sod the bonnet.. and shove the filter out the wing!!

Re: re

I agree with everyone.
At the end of the day if you the look of a vent / scoop and it is for show rather than performance, then make sure someone does a good job of it!!
What's the point of having a vent or scoop if its fitted ****?!?!?!?

If you are doing it for performance.
How about like the above?
One which will either increase cold air to the induction system or remove hot air from the engine.

Adding a scoop will allow more water, mud, shite, bugs etc etc get into your engine, means more cleaning!!!

Each to there own, go for what you like and want!

Re: re

personally I would go for some smallish louvres near to where the filter is.
subtle, useful and not too OTT

Re: re

if you do intend to go the jap style vent on the bonnet look you can always make a little bit of an undertray to catch the water and direct it away from the electrics. I know it defeats the point in having a vent but it saves cocking up your car ;)
