are there any draw backs from having a bonnit vent.?

i know it lets more cold air in....'great'

but what about water, dirt, grim, leaves, and **** like that..?

its gotta be bad right..

any import would be great :0)

thanx. Tim

How about if OTT or not fitted well it will look complete shite?

Nice one Sy. :)Sorry got to agree with Sy they look shite on Novas and Corsas so chances are they will look worse on something as good looking as a Bravo/a.

Rab. :)

What would benefit from the cold air?

If you look on a lot of sports cars the bonnet vents let air OUT, not in.

'subtle' is the key with bonnet vents! i do like the focus style vent, but with the bravo i think a small tri-slot vent at the front of the passenger side wing would not only look great, but be hardly noticable and serve a purpose as thats where the k&n sits (if you have one).

but thats just me!!

it was my understanding that induction kits / filters used cool air.. thus, having a vent on the bonnit to let more cool air in would be a plus...

iv seen sum bravos in the gallery here which have evo style vents. (just flat holes shaped and meched) which looks good i thought, and sum1 posted a web site they had found last week which sold bravo stuff. there was a fiberglass bonnit fitted with vent already to buy.

did any1 else see that.?

i thought it looked good.

The biggest drawback is that you might get McDonalds wrappers sucked into the engine bay as you go round and round the car park trying to find your way out after your shift.

You can get enough cold air by using ducting from the front of the car.

personally i think they look good.. as you can tell from the rest of the useless posts, there are no problems :p

go for it

Here is something to think about, why on cars like the elise, the F50, GT40 where the radiator is mounted at the front do they vent the radiator exhaust air over the car rather than under like on normal everyday cars?

Same with F1 cars, why do they vent the rads out the top.

So the car doesnt take off? but what does this have to do with a bonnet vent which is for show? lol

He was not asking about a bonnet vent for show :)

And amazingly you got it right ;) So we can conclude you actually want LESS air going under the car rather than more.

re

they are totally useless, you dont want to force lots of air down into your enginebay, it will cause more heating problems as hot air wont be able to get out? and a vent wont make a lot of difference to an induction kit, as not much air is going to get sucked in! especially at speed you imagain hoe little air comes in.

you are better off havig a vent at back off bonnet to release hot air from egine bay and impreove ducting air flow through front?

although i think a more sublte vent can look good, but dont get one if your doing it to improve performance, it wont.

Nope!

The 1.8 and HGT have undertrays to try and control the air that flows from the engine bay under the car.

I assumed that the bravos aren't quick enough to worry about taking off, more to the point, a bonnet vent wont cause any handling problems, or am i wrong again?
