i got my skirts yesterday from the fiat garage brand new.
it says in the catalogue that they come "supplied ready to be painted IN THE SAME COLOUR AS THE CAR"

does this mean that they do not need a base coat of primer, can they literally just be sprayed the same colour as my car (black)

also, how many coats have people put on them?

any help/advice what so ever is much appreciated

you might as well just throw a coat of primer on anyway just to make sure ... save hastle later if the paint starts going all blotchy and horrible heh..

if im spraying stuff i usualy do 1 coat of primer and then 2 coats of the colour (or another if i feel its needed) and then a coat of laquer

cheers for that Bushboy

When you say you do it yourself, do you have access too your own paint shop? Or is that just using a normal can of spray like the ones from Halfords.

I've just got a quote from Fiat for painting £205 and fitting £100 total of £305!!!!

Bit shocked to be honest didn't think they'd cost me that much

wicked, ive been reading some tutorials on the web of how to do it i think i might aswell have a go at it myself then.

cheers for your help

I sprayed my bumpers using halfords spray cans- cololur matching is a little iffy at night, but its ok during day. Id recommend tye following:

Rub the sills down lightly with P800 grit wet or dry paer- put on a light coat of plastic primer- put on another coat. Rub it down again with P800...do the colour coat- 2 of again. Rub this down lightly with P1000, then finish with very light P1200 rubbing. put on 2-3 coats of lacquer.

Make sure the sills are on a bench or something.. not on the ground.

Take your time. My bumpers took 2 days to do.

Check http://houseofrandom.4t.com/box.htm, for my results...not really that bad methinks!
