I've searched the forum and can't make my mind up on what to use to lower my cinq sporting. G-max are regularly criticised, as are Apex and Pi - Spax seem to be well regarded but expensive and KW or FK seem to be rare but very good also. I found info on Bilsteins B12 kit which lowers by 40mm and has stiffened shocks. They are well priced and come from a reputable company however I would love to hear if anyone else has used them?

Thanks!!

Yes, yes they are. I went for that kit when I was replacing my knackered suspension. didnt use the springs, as Manx roads require a decent clearance; but I was expecting bilstein to at least provide a slightly stiffer shock absorber...how wrong I was. From my days driving MkII Escorts and Billies were the onl shock to have;they seem to have sold out (n)

Why 'Not Good'? A matched set of dampers and springs will be a whole heap better than a mix and match unless you do a whole lot of work on spring rates and damper rebound rates. The dampers will be shortened to allow the springs to work properly, and being TUV approved will come with full fitting instructions, including what to do with the bump stops.

Cheers

i have the apex 40 mm full kit on my cinq and have no critisims of it at all, who has criticised this kit and why as ive never read a bad report on apex kits i have on the gmax kits but that was just about them rusting quite a bit under normal road use.

just buy APEX its tried and tested by many off us on here and is quality and good value for money £216 posted to your doo.

Hmm, I didn't expect that now.... I guess I should do what you say - any opinion on whether me and the missus should have any more kids?

'My door' is an awful lot further from Willy Wonkas Shock Absorber factory than yours and I have difficulty getting most stuff - except the Bilsteins, hence my interest in them.

rallycinq makes bags of sense too - thanks for playing the Devils Avocado.

My 14" Punto 5-spokes (and Motorworldchinks spacers) will be ready to go on this weekend so I need to get the car lowered soon to stop it looking like a roller skate.

Update to follow.....

David.

www.motorsportworld.co.uk - 10-15% discount available if quoting Clubcento (have to actually be a member tho!)

Try them, they were pukka with me!!! and get the -40mm Spax kit (either adjustables or not-depends on budget)

I have the non-adjustables on the Turbo and it handles like it is ON RAILS! One word-stunning...

As they are a decent company (and very-very cheap IMO) I reckon they'd have no probs with shipping to Ireland??

Regards,
Matt

Yup, I wish I had gone for the Spax, the Bilstein streetline kit is pants (n)

All for the saving of 50 quid, and not bothering to read the description properly :(
