Hi all!

i am currently renovating a wee cottage, last night i could not find the key for the back door, which i usually leave on the inside of door as i use th front most of the time.
However, on closer inspection today the key has been broken in the lock either by the plumber or electrician.

now, does anyone know how to open the door and replace the lock or remove the key?
I have heard that the euro cylinder can be snapped, but will this work in
this situation?

Hope that aint too long winded and someone can help!

Thanks, James.

I think you need to turn the key to get the barrel out. If you have another key then it may work from the other side.

Oh, in fact you need to open the door and undo the screw in the end of the door first. So if you can't open it you'll need help with it.

Once you get the barrel out, you need the two measurements from the centre to the lock faces in mm - they are sold by these two lengths.

Thanks everyone!
Drill is the last resort, Lol!
will let you know how it goes!

(btw, Andy you are the man!!)

Thanks!

not sure you should be giving advice on how to get past a lock on a house. No offence to the person who asked, your probably a nice, decent, honest person but, how do you know he's not some jealous psychotic ex husband looking for revenge or even just an old fashioned thieving scumbag.

fair point, but its all info thats availabler for anyone to read on the net, it was just finding it was the problem! lol

Had this convo before and generally criminals dont need to come onto public forums for info as they would normally run in circles that already know.
Was it a kick open jobbie?

was not giving him any more info than what is easy to find if you search in google, Can hardly see giving him info on how to remove a broken key from a lock as a bad thing. Not as if you can break into a house with the info,

people give tips on here on alarm wiring, central locking systems/ ignition systems/ immobiliser systems on here where do you draw the line,

having read on here i have a good idea how to get past a fiat code immobiliser coming from innocent comments about faulty ECU's and the like .....

but the site i linked him to does have other tools of the nature criminals would find interesting hence i PMed him it then again if i wanted to be in a house it has things called windows ;)

The website is very very interesting. Passed it on to my WIndows and Door man, hes gonna look at getting some stuff and offer other services maybe?

Its amazing that such stuff is available to the general public. But if some cock wants to get in they will get in.....

Also i was amazed to see certain car lock picking kits and ignition picking kits on the site
