Ok so i have been exploring the trance world and i have found a love for the Harder, Faster, Darker style of Psy Trance.
After Having a search of this forum
http://www.psymusic.co.uk/forum/index.php?
I have found a site where anybody can try out the sounds of some fantastic Psy Artists.
So far the guy in the link below has really appealed to my taste.
http://www.ektoplazm.com/free-music/cybernetika-atropos/

Still nothing has made my hair stand up with excitement and sent shivers down my spine. Sooooo i was hoping some of you guys would be able to point me in the right direction. :worship:

i have a psy trance album on my computer but never really got into it

i prefer the classic trance tunes

then again i never gave it much of a chance i might have another listen when i get home lol

Well def try some of the tunes from my first post. The one that i actually linked to has a really mellow D&B style to it, but there are hundreds of albums on that site.
Once i get the hang of the software i will have a go at mixing the tracks a little as i think this will be a good exercise to do before making my own tracks.
But yeah i am just diging through the free downloads and Psy is really growing on me. I just wish i could find something a bit more Hardcore, Dancy orientated.

I love all kinds of trance. Tried the ektoplazm link and listened to "Antares". Distinctly unimpressed with that. Far too much drum n bass and not nearly enough trance. I hate D n B. I'm at work at the moment so can't try any more of their stuff but if it's all like this I won't be joining their fan club.

As for the two Prodigy "remixes" - not trancy at all. Sounds just like The Prodigy in fact. I am a Prodigy fan though.

Have you heard of Digitally Imported Radio? ( www.di.fm )

They used to have loads of trance channels but have gone all commercial now but there are still a couple of channels worth listening to.

Yeah that link was very dnbesk but the rest of his is more psy orientated. U say u hate dnb but u like prodigy who are the pioneers of it.
I am just about to dig through the other links now.
I have listened to the goa psy on difm and that is what got me into it.

If u have any kind of other genre and have links that u think will make my dick rise with excitment then link away. I am always open to any good music.

Yeah the second one would have been ok if I handnt of heard the originals. I have been a bit way laid though. Listening to cockney thug, rusko scratch perverts rmx. So I'm bang on the dance dubstep.

Er, no. Personally, and call me old fashioned if you like, but I like my music to be performed by musicians (the clue's in the name) not computer programmers

The Prodigy's roots are in the rave scene and they certainly weren't pioneers of D n B, although they dabbled with it a bit in the early 90's. Their output has been pretty varied in style but "No Good, Start The Dance" for me is their best ever track by a country mile. It will always be in my top ten list of favourite tracks of all time. But I digress.

How about Techno Trance? Give "The Prophet" by CJ Bolland a listen. It builds up quite slowly but is well worth your time.

U96 are another outfit you might like to check out, although their sound includes Dance, Techno and fast Trance. "Das Boot" and "Love Religion" are particular favourites of mine.

Or how about going all the way back to the origins of Trance and giving "Age of Love" a listen? This one still excites me when I listen to it. And there have been so many remixes you'll be bound to find one you like.

All these suggestions could have come whilst i was at work lol but i will checj everything out when I get a chance.

Beardy I think that is rather a closed mind view IMO. I know that the older generation may strugle to get the idea of this digital age music but it by no means takes less talent. Producers now with this type of music have to put the listener in a totally different state of mind and if people like me want tunes spinning in excess of 200 bpm then it's just not viable to do this a oustically.
Although I kind of have th same view of dj's using CDJ's instead of vinyl. Not only do I prefer the warmth of vinyl, too many dj's are ripping low quality mp3's from torrents and could potentially kill anything other than mainstream.

Careful! I probably fit into your definition of "older generation"!

I got into electronic music in the 70s with the likes of Jean Michel Jarre and Kraftwerk and listened to all sorts of weird and wonderful stuff coming out of the States in the very early 80s like Africa Bambaata. Then Patrick Cowley's amazing remix of Donna Summer's "I Feel Love" came along and I knew then that this type of music would be all I ever wanted to listen to. For it's time it was a fantastic technical achievement and a storming track. Sounds just as good now as it did then and is quite trancy in it's use of repetetive hypnotic beats and rhythms.

Electronic music is just as valid a form of musical expression as any other type of music. Some people "get it" some don't. Like all things, music evolves and changes and spawns new genres and ways of being created. If we still had only the same set of acoustic instruments as we had before computers, synthesisers, sequencers, samplers etc I think music would be pretty stale and boring by now.

I've lost count of the number of people who've looked at me as if I'm completely insane after asking me, "so what sort of music do you like?" just because they think I'm too old to be into "all that stupid boom boom music". Closed minds indeed.

I grew up around Keith Emerson, The Nice, Emerson, Lake and Palmer, very early pioneers of the Synthesizer and was very aware of Jarre, Kraftwerk and the like, but once the Fairlight started to be used as an instrument and not a studio effect, I lost interest.

Someone, possibly BB King, once said there are only two kinds of music; good music and bad music.

Thats not a philosophy that i live by. Even if i dont directly like the music that i am being shown by an individual i will not term it "bad music". Unless its my niece showing me her new take that album. Even then you cand deam pop music bad. Take for example The ***** Cat Dolls, yes the eithos of their music is pretty dire but fook me are some of their tracks mental. :slayer:. A lot of the big SPL guys use their songs because they are cleanly produced and have insane bass. Do i like their songs "no" is it good music "yes".

I am open to any kind of music, TBH the only thing that truly offends my ears is something called Wonky, but that is sort of what it is sposed to do. It is really a creative collection of sounds rather than music. I spose it is the musical equilvelent to what the Cat Walk is to the fashion world.

Oh and i you like a bit of rock in your trance have a look around on Ektoplazm for Xamanist's 2009 live demo.
