i dont care which 1 it is anymore! i want a spoiler, even an abarth 1!! i may not be insured when i get it, but i will just rip it off if anything happended, sod it!!! so any1 got a spoiler?

What do you expect the boy is obviously the first Chav in the UK to buy a Stilo!

Remember of course if you crash into someone and injure them, then get out and rip off your back spoiler and the insurance firm finds out they won't pay out, you'll be liable, and the injured party can sue you for every penny, even if you didn't get prosecuted for the incident!

Ripping it off probably wouldn't be too easy, especially not if you're injured or unconcious!

Like TC says, the easiest options is your dealer.

well its the same spoiler from the dealer or not kids!! and i int no chav, whatever that little gay saying is, but at the end of the day i pay ****e loads for my insurance and for an extra couple of inches to the back window, what does it matter?? damn insurers

Oi Chavvy boy!

Sorry, couldn't resist!

Don't fall into the trap though of thinking the insurance company won't get arsey if you claim, they will.

The guy who's car hit mine in January had to take it to have the handbrake checked (because his car rolled into mine when parked), if it had been the case he hadn't maintained it properly he wouldn't have been insured

Thats how hard they try to get out of paying these days :(

Re: Oi Chavvy boy!

Fair enough though isn't it! If you have non-standard alloys for example, you should be insured for it, it makes the car more likely to be 1) vandalised 2) stolen or 3) have the wheels stolen, hence you should pay more. Where do you draw the line? You don't, hence why all mods should be declared and if your insurance company requires as such, you should pay more.

I paid "****e" loads for my insurance also, however, it didn't mean I change the engine to a Uno turbo, add alloys or a spoiler simply because "i pay a lot".

It's not up to you or I to make such choices, if your insurance policy requires you to inform and pay extra, you have to or find another insurer, not "disagree" with what they are saying and do it anyway!lol

I personally think a subtle spoiler shouldn't make a difference and in some cases won't, have you asked?

Paul...

Now, I think you probably already know I agree with your view on insurance, BUT, the thing is, what upsets Leon, and myself and many other drivers, is that insurance companies simply use things such as a small spoiler to screw young drivers.

Hence they are contributing to the epidemic of uninsured or improperly insured drivers around.

It really isn't fair that insurance companies can get away with making such unfair charges.

Re: Paul...

I know James and as you know, I agree with what you're saying, afterall, I paid the best part of 1k for a 1litre uno TPFT for a year. However, somebody could counter that and explain how in the early 90s insurance companies were charging too little which led to them losing a hell of a lot of money at the start of this decade and the end of the last, many still are in the red, believe it or not! (I saw it on newsnight, it must be true :p)

Anyway, I did say:

"I personally think a subtle spoiler shouldn't make a difference and in some cases won't, have you asked?"

I just think it's a really chavvy thing to do, you might aswell drive insured if you don't keep to the terms as it is worth as much, save yourself the money and don't bother, it makes little difference, underinsured is NOT insured with car insurance I do believe...

Uninsured...

This is true, you are also not insured if you don't have an MOT, or a outside of the terms of your policy, which can include using the car for work, speeding, drink driving etc...

Basically, these days an insurer will do anything it can to avoid paying out.

And your right about them being in the red, but this isn't the only way we are subsidising the past.

We are paying alround to make up for what people got cheap a few years ago, higher education for example

Anyway I think this is far enough... :eek:fftopic: :D

ok uno boy, think i thought about them things, only thing is i like making my car look smart, bit different with an uno, but if thats your budget then ok!! i just get mad when its like 1 inch longer, then the crappy standard jtd 1!! im sure other people do to. so i was just considering doing that,

nah its ok, proberbly a little spotty kid, and i thought it was the stilo section!!? anyway your with me int ya matey, all insurers are knobs, and it does my head in for a little extra smarter spoiler!! i really want 1 on!

Leon...

I'd rather remain impartial TBH, I have got on well with both you and Paul in the past, and would hope to continue doing so.

Though I understand the insurers needs to be strict, I think some of the bigger companies are taking the p**s these days.

I had a similar dillema when I looked into fitting skirts, in the end I decided it wasn't worth the risk.

Paul's ok though, just sometimes people get them wrong impression of him, he just likes to stick by his principles, which I have to say I admire ;)
