General Another new Punto!

With reference to th post by the lad below, i have also just bought a new Punto Active 8v, and because it has only got a radio/cassette player, i want that changed (and quickly!) but the cassette player is built in to the whole centre console and looks complicated to change. I just wondered if any1 can give me any advice on changing it. Thank You

I am on exactly the same wave length, I ordered a punto accessories catalogue and there is something in there which basically is a cover for a cd player unit. ie: you could take out the exisiting radio and then put in this cover, which fits the space in the console where the radio is, it has a rectangular gap in it for the cd player unit. The cover costs about 15 quid, and then I suppose its just a case of replacing the radio with the cd player.

(You can get the facia from halfords for a tenner ) To take the radio out is quite easy, 4 long cocktail sticks in the four holes and pull.

Chop a wire coat hanger into four piece and use that

yep you just ned a stereo removal tool or try the chop stick method. you stick them in the 4 holes and then just pull back and stereo comes out. all standard sized stereos will fit. you just by a facia plate as mentioned. the facia plate just pushes into place and then you push stereo throughthat and into car. only problems i haveheard of have heard a possible problem on stereos with motorized front fascias catching on the trim as it slides down.
