My Cinq Sp came to me with a normal black key, its a 1997 model.

The other week I had my ignition switch cowling off to fit the wiring to an LED. I noticed something attached to the outer ring of the black round aerial thingy around the ignition switch where the key goes in. I think it was glued in place, possibly taped, but it was small [4mm?], and 'bulb like' in appearance. I am assuming that this is the transponder thingy that should be inside the 'proper' key. I didnt remove it.

If it sounds to you Cinq guru's that this is the transponder, if it can be removed, can I put it in a small capsule etc, on my key ring? or can it be used to make a proper key with?

Sorry, its all back together now and got no pics.

any ideas?

yup thats what it is. so basically you car is non immobilised just now.
should be able ot get a blue key cut(and i would assume cloned)) from the black one and the transponder chip.
if its cheaper without programing then get a blue cut then pop your chip inside though i would suggest having at least one chipped spare key
