I have a 350w SPLX amp, with a 500w SPLX sub, works great for ages, but when i turn off and back on, it doesnt seem to work. I check the fuse and its blown! [:(!] the gain is almost fully up, so should I try turn it about 1/2 way?

ps. that was the 2nd fuse, blown by the amp

What size fuse are you using and fuse type.
i/e slow blow or fast blow.
if it is tha latter it will blow quickly as you switch on due to the sudden surge in current.

OHMS Law

And Power.

Watts= Volts x Amps

Current (Amps) (I) = Watts divided by Volts

Volts = Watts divided by Current (Amps) (I)

You have a total of 850 watts Divided by 12 Volts or 13.8 volts no load is typical.

Which =70.83 Amps. at 12 volts.

This the peak value of the fuse, the RMS value is 50.07 Amps.

ive got it vertically mounted, it doesnt overheat, but when I pump up my choons, the next time i turn it on the fuse is dead. It could be the sudden burst perhaps, i try to turn my headunits volume down before switching off now, and it seems to be working.

Hei.

Have you connected the "amp OFF" cable from the head unit to the amp correctly? Most of the head units have an "automatically-sound-off-through-that-cable" before the head unit shut down itself and the amp. This is to prevent what you are experiencing now.

i used a butt connector, my headunit is very dodgy so that could also be doing the damage. Thanks all the for the input
