Technical Am i being paranoid

my car makes a, well its best described as a windy/blowing noise, when im idling.

it stops when i use the clutch.

should i be worried, some off u know the problems that ive been having with my clutch cables breaking, so im just wondering if it has something to do with that.

also its not really difficult to select a gear but theres a bit off kick back with the stick, the gears arent grinding though

The only thing that changes when you press the clutch is the gearbag stops turning, so could be in there. When was the oil last checked/changed?

Oohhh, I had this, turned out to be the pressure plate and release bearing chewing each other up

Well, he has gone through a few clutch cables....

its goin in for a service and a new clutch very shortly, i've gone through 3 cables in 12 months.

i just always live in the fear off it going on me so i carry 2 spare round with me.

my mate, the mechanic has said he will take the gear box apart and check everything out for me, he did comment when i first had it, that the gear box had been taken apart at some stage, there seems to be a silicone sealer around the edges of the gear box
