Hi, sorry if I am duplicating.

Can anyone help, i have both airbag lights on my mk2b.

I had them turned off and they always reappear, now I am guessing but I think the passenger one is caused by a faulty switch in the glovebox which might need reconnecting, is this just a case of disconnecting battery, wait 20 mins and then checking the wiring, clean the connector plugs with contact cleaner, allowing to dry and reconnect?

Also I think the drivers is caused by the clockspring, im hearing a horrible crunchy clicky sound from horn area when turning...

How do i replace this, is there a guide...

I have gathered so far that i should center the steering wheel, disconnect battry, allow 20 mins. Then unbolt steering wheel, remove airbag and disconnect clockspring and replace... Is this true, are there guides to removing steering wheel and or clockspring?

I did look but not sure if I am just missing the guide lol...

Any help would be really appreciated, or even a rough cost to get fiat to do the work.

My car is the later version on mk2b. 1.2 8v

Thanks Fiat Experts

This is the most likely cause of your problems nothing to do with the switch its self more the wiring

and to reset the airbag warning lights follow this video

with this fault both airbag lights will always come on so I wouldn't assume a fault with the drivers airbag till you've tackled the passenger side issue

A crazy thing I found was actually the seating position.

When my seat is forward - warning light.

When it's back - nothing.

After a little routing around I found the junction box for the airbags is under the sear. Turns out it was as simples as me having a loose wire.

So I got under the seat, cabled tied a few of them and hey presto, sianara airbag light!

Only applies to cars with Side impact airbags with wiring under the seats The Op has an 8V so almost 100% unlikely to have no side airbags, plus passenger side warning light is also on which doesn't happen with seat airbag faults

Hi, thanks all for the help...

I know it is a late response but I have been searching the net for how to get hold of this exclusion switch. Fiat said they aren't aware of any upgraded wiring? Does anyone have a part number or a link to purchase one? What is the actual name of the part

when daughters needed doing a search on here came up with the info - receipt from Stoneacre tells me harness part number is I0051786225 @ £5.03 + vat - dealer won't sell it to you and will insist on fitting it themselves @ 30 mins labour -- if you do get it from a dealer without install let me know as youngests needs doing

part number here https://www.flickr.com/photos/puntohowto/8432729760/

however as scimitargtc said they can be funny about selling you the part which is why they might be saying they know nothing about it, i managed to get them to sell me the part but it took a serious battle with the dealer and i had to involve Fiat UK who could see no reason i shouldn't be able to buy it.

Thanks everyone, I wanted to keep the airbags, especially since I gave just purchased the kit to turn out the airbag lights lol! I googled the part numbers, no real luck :( but I am going to continue hassling the Fiat dealers, just to confirm the part number is the 51786255 number?

I have also contacted shop4parts who I ordered my clutch kit from yesterday, in the hope they may be able to help.

Just the worry i have.... Maybe if somebody has a Non funny dealer ship - order a few and flog them on here?

Sturgess Motor Group...?

So I was thinking of ordering a decent earth cable and adding that to the current harness, but fortunately shop4parts have responded saying they can supply me one for £6.48 with VAT, yay! Will keep you posted as to whether this cures the problem, pretty sure I am still going to need a clockspring as it clicks like mad!
