i have one question are all the brakes in the cinquecento and the seicento not very good or is it just mine. The brakes are slow and to properly engage the handbrake you have to pull it up really hard and hold it up with both hands to engage it. Is this a common problem or ca it be fixed easily. i.e more brake fluid. I don't know much about cars by the wayother than how to clean them and how to drive them

the handbrake is a common problem. The only way to sort it is to take out the linkages (that atatches the cable at the brake drum), give them a thorough clean then put loads of copper grease on the pivot of the linkage and keep moving it til it becomes as slack as a prostitute.

Refit to the car and bobs yer cards right! it's sorted!;)

mine is terrible it is only and sx and for a small car rolling back down a hill is quite scary. lol. Look forward to any one elses expert opinion. Talk to you all soon

Well, the handbrake on my old SX (Older mechanism) was better and didnt freeze, and actually stopped the car rolling down hills[:(!], unlike the one on my Sporting.

Selecting forward gear if parked facing up hill and reverse gear if facing downhill will help too!
