I'm currently running Spax Adj. Shocks with Eibach Springs and ARB, out of 28 positions available on the shocks for dampening 0 being the softest and 28 being the hardest, I'm at 15 at the front and 9 at the rear (NB max hard at the rear means 720 degree spins!, not done by me but advised from another adj. user!)

I also have the Eibach ARB too and what I'm wondering is that on long sweping bends the stiffness aided fom the shocks settles the car and it handles good but on some more complex really twisty stuff where sudden direction changes are required the car feels as if it's going to flip!

I'm sure the shocks are maybe too stiff at the front and I will be trying them softer later today but this then leads to not much confidence in flinging it into corners at my usual speeds so I'm hitting my head off a brick wall!

I know Rally cinq took his ARB off due to understeer or was that oversteer? David?

Any views peeps?

Arc,

OMG mate, set to +28 hard? Really? It's brutal at parts in my car so up at that level I would say you could risk damaging the car if you had no option but to drop into some bad holes/bumps.

I hope your not fully adjusted at the rear cos you'll soon find out what happens but you might not live to post the tale!

Hmmmm, I'm going to play about with it this weekend and through next week but I also appreciate that the setings are driver and driving style dependant.

Thanks for now folks.

the ride is harsh, and it does bounce the wheels off the road at times. its full at the back too. i was going to source a new key and then play with the handling - but ive not found one yet.

can u take some pics of the key so i can get summit made up? ta

There is such a thing as too much. Try the fronts slightly softer than the rear. Doesn't matter whether its 1 to 2 or 8 to 10, there is no need to wind the things up to 28 first off.

I removed the front anti roll bar to kill the understeer. I also have the effect of a rear strutbrace with the cross bar on the cage.

In my opinion, ARBs are fine on perfectly smooth surfaces, but the effect of the loaded wheel hitting a bump will effect the opposite wheel as they are connected. On cars with a longer wheelbase you can feel a rocking from the arb in long constant radius curves, which is yet another weird ARB effect.

Cheers

Hmmm, cheers Dave, will adjust the settings, I also know what you mean about the wheels being connected because the ARB links the both wishbones cos there can be some hairy wheelspin from one side on the uneven stuff!

Arc, harsh surely can't be the word, here is a pic of the key for the front, although the rear is supposedly off car adjustment a stuby plain screwdriver will turn it back for you and maybe even a very small spanner around 6 or 7mm could adjust the front for you.

Update,

Ran the car on full soft for a week and enjoyed the reduced dental bills!

Only downside was the rear felt a little looser and I wasn't as confident at hitting the corners at my usual pace.
