Hello, I've been recommended by the fine people in the Classic Panda section to come over here and talk to you about a problem I have with my 1108cc Panda Selecta (similar setup to the CityMatic?).

When accelerating it sometimes (and its only very occational, and seems to happen mainly when its damp, but this might be me) hesitates. This happens both from standstill, accelerate, car moves a few meters, hesitates and then moves off fine. and also when accelerating, eg along a slip road onto a motorway etc.

Several times when this has happened I've stopped in traffic, or at lights and placed the car in Park or Neutral, and placed my foot on the accelerator, and dispite my foot staying in the same place, the engine gains and looses revs.

I don't think this is anything to do with it being an Automatic, but might be and was just wondering if anyone knows what its is and how it can be sorted. Its more anoying rather than a major problem, but has had me worried when its done it when moving onto a roundabout.

Many thanks. Jon.

Hi Jon, my 1108 manual also does this, particularly when cold or wet. I do believe its a problem with the lambda, and suggest changing it. Ive not done it yet, so couldnt confirm if it is for certain, but thats what ive been advised is causing the problem.

Many thanks. They suggested this over in the Panda section but at £55 I wasn't willing to change it on the off chance.

I do have the injection warning lamp come on at steady high speeds (55MPH>) and have been told this is because the lambda sensor is old and dosen't respond to changes in exhaust gases fast enough. But was told if I don't mind the light then don't need to change the sensor just yet.:)

my turbo cinq also does this! can be very frustrating, im thinking along the lines of lambda sensor too :)
im gonna swap sensor from my other cinq see what happens because i believe the lambda is not switching voltage any more or doing it very slowly causing the hesitiation under acceleration

yes sounds like lamba to me also
i may have one thats only covered 2000miles for sale its a NGK one. ill know at the end of the week if its for sale or not depending if my LC-1 wideband decideds to work again.

Let us know if you are. I might be interested. I think the Panda and cinq's/siento's use the same Lambda sensors if my memory serves me right, I check online once.

ya cheers (y) well reason its not already off to be set up is because ive got an rs2000 pump and adjustable regulator on way, plus hopefully a 40mm throttle body so its getting set up then :)
i dont trust the air/fuel gauge either because if the lambda is reading faulty so is the gauge,,,,,(the gauge reads great all time)
