Sounds a bit like the situation my Dad is in.

He ended up caught up between two boyracers as he made a right turn, one overtook, the other undertook. Obviously the one which went to overtake went into the side of him. But, being mates they came up with a ridiculous story between them so he's still disputing it two years on :bang: fortunately for him though, he had max NCD protected, so no harm really, apart from he isn't on my insurance as it would cost too much!

Personally, I was waiting to pull out of my drive this time last year on a dark evening, I was protruding a bit (so I could see round the pikey up the streets collection of vans), and this guy just straight drove into me. No question, I was pulling into the main road so I was at fault :devil:

I've bitched about it many times on here it has to be said, but it still annoys me.

Still, if I manage to have another incident free month (touch wood again), I'll have two years NCD (because thats what will be on my renewal, and thats enough proof!), so I might get a pleasant surprise, but there is also the 3 points I clocked up this year

well they quoted me just over 1k, BUT just under £800 if I take my bro off.

interestingly, the premium went up when I took the GF off

I paid £900 odd this year, but my bro and I have each picked up some bonus points for being sooo damn good behind the wheel this year :devil:

Might have to take him off and consign him to his banger for the time being, or horror of horror stay with direct line

Just phoned my insurance co out of interest to find out that the leather interior and sunroof is a moddification ?
And is extra to pay on the premium... BUT if im in an accident or the cars stolen they will only pay for the standard options ?
So im paying an extra £76 for these things to be insured but I wont get a penny for them if I have to claim ??
Thats nearly £2000 of stuff i will lose if the car gets f****d...
the guy told me its standard with all other insurers ?

What? thats shocking? Maybe the way they get around this is because extra's add little to the secondhand value.

Maybe you should take out Gap insurance (or is that something else?) with the garage, so if you're car is written of they make up the difference to your invoice cost so you get a new car.

My GF has this, it cost her something like £200 for 3 years.

im with direct line and they were the cheapest by far for me, i went on my dads insurance and since he had been on compnay insurance for 20 years and me a year and my stilo's insurance come out at £640 which isnt that bad. We have told them about my alloys but because my dads the policy holder and hes 50 they didnt mind. Havnt said anything about the sideskirts but i'll just rip them off if i were to write the car off.

Elephant quoted me £588.39, which is only about £70 cheaper than last years premium! im hoping for something around the £450 mark...maybe too hopeful!

Direct line told me you couldn't have mods if ANYONE named on the policy was under 25! Seems like they don't know what they're doing to me

How would you rip the skirts off though if you were unconcious?

Its not worth the risk IMO

That wouldn't wash, read the small print, the responsibilty for this kind of thing lies with the policy holder

I will tell them i think but i wont say i have already done them i'll say i was thinking about it.

Officially the car isnt mine Im on my Mums insurance still and its still in her name! Insurance company is Frizzell and they class major mods ie mods that increase premium, to be increase in engine capacity, fitting turbos etc........

I really need to get my own policy sorted, but im not paying for the insurance in the mean time .......so no rush eh???

Well if direct line dont like the idea of sideskirts i'll just have to risk it till i renew the policy and change to another company i was thinking of doing that anyway
