Does anyone know if when you buy the stilo side skirts as an after-market fit you can get a choice of the skirts without the abarth stickers? just im gonna get them soon and i dont really want the stickers on them but i dont want them to have a blank groove where the sticker should go also!

thanks (y)

Re: Nope.............................

oh bugger, can u buy standard skirts instead then coz if theres a choice id rather go without the abarth badges as my JTD certainly aint an abarth! lol

I don't think you should worry about having Abarth stickers on them, it's not as if your going to plaster the car head to toe in Abarth shields trying to make out it's something it's not, they're very discreet ...go for it IMO

Re: The Abarth stickers...........................

thats true TC. £230.00 ive been quoted i think this sounds a good price, what do you guys and gals think? also TC, do they feel quite sturdy when there attached or are they likely to break when washing the car a bit vigorously?!

I would deffo let the insurers know, because they will look at everything to try and wangle their way out of a claim!

I am just about to add a CDA box, and Admiral are only loading about £50 for a performance item; I would have thought skirts would hardly affect premium that much.

Insurance

Are you with Direct line? I seem to remember you saying you were, well if you are, how old are you? They wouldn't even let me add skirts being under 25 :bang:

Ridiculous!

They said not!

When I got insurance, they asked if it had any options, which it doesn't but, they said certain options wouldn't be allowed, bigger wheels, skirts etc. Apparently they class these as modifications.

The lass I spoke to was as thick as two short planks, and there was no way I could convince her this was nonsense, so I spoke to someone else on another occassion and they said the same :bang:

Re: Ridiculous!

im 23 and yes i am with direct line at the mo, but can see myself changing when my policy expires mid november to a hopefully "minor mod friendly" insurer ;) lol

Can you not get insured somewhere else then..
I went through elephant and they had the options on their website to add extras to your car quote..some things were not allowed, like lowering more than 40mm and stuff like that but generally they were pretty forgiving.
I saved over £300 to the nearest quote by going through them and believe me i tried everywhere...
then once I got my quote I logged back in and added some mods to see what it would allow.. maybe its worth just trying that as your not under any obligation to buy... and you can mess about with it as much as you like...if a mods not allowed just press the back button and try something else..

I was a little restricted, as direct line were the cheapest by over £500, due to the fact I had a years no claims, dating back to 2000 with them, I could get 1yrs NCD there but nowhere else!

Shouldn't be a problem this year though... touch wood ;)

Direct line quoted me £1200 compared to £650 with elephant and I have 0 NCD.. with the car lowered by 35mm, a new sports exhaust, and 30% tints all round they added another £75.

how couldn't you get a no claims discount elsewhere? i have always been under the impression that NCD is universal and is accepted by any insurer?! shoot me if im wrong...! lol

NCD is universal, and you take it with you along with proof to another insurer!

But in James' case, he mentions back in 2000 with Direct Line? Maybe that has something to do with it, and fact not been insured in the prevailing time, I dunno, lol....

Ncd...

Thats exactly it...

Too much time had passed for the NCD to be valid with other insurers, but since I was returning to DL they let me have it.

Korang, that is good, less than I pay.. how old are you? Oh, yeah I also wrote off my last car just before I got my Stilo (in my Mams name though hence didn't lose the NCD), my fault, but not my fault if you get what I mean

Erm as my mum would say im as old as my tongue and little bit older than my teeth.. lol ..thats always anoyed me..
lets just say I was almost alive when England won the world cup ;)
But I had some git in a works van run into me 2 years ago and thats why I pay more than I should..cuz he done a runner and then denied what happened or at least how it happened and I had to make the claim..I really don't understand that cuz surely the fact that he drove off proved his guilt ?

But i did go through the elephant quote again and gave myself 6 years ncd and the quote only came down to about £500 so it clearly didn't make much difference.
Just run through the quote James and see what difference it makes..i would love to know if its just me that finds them 40% cheaper than anywhere else..
and NO i dont work for elephant :)
