oh most definitely uncle arnold clarck they have invested in 2 new look fiat showrooms and the one in ayr is being renovated too.they have a total of about 5 fiat franchises in the west of scotland it will be one of them.which i do not know but they all work in conjuction with each other.ie if one franchise aint got the model your wanting they just get it from one A/C that has:)

A few are being renovated. Won't just need to cover west of Scotland. The franchise covers the whole country.
Fiats busiest dealer in scotland is Dundee.

Although the franchise HQ is Alliosn Street in Glasvegas that is being torn down so could move to different part of the city or even country.

is it not the growth or upsurge or eventuality that these showrooms are being renovated or new builds in time for all the new fiat models coming out in the next year or 2?basically is just a big makeover to up their image:D :D

Wouldn't try understand why Uncle A does these things. It's proberly a mix of all the above tho. That and that some Fiat showrooms are letting the rest of the branches down thanks to the state they are in. :)

i for one will be getting the abarth as i love my gp and want more power and this is right up my street cant wait

Hopefully abarth dealers will be completely seperate, no just a sticker in the window.

when is it launch in the uk then hope its soon as after christmas i will be looking as i want a little more bhp dont suppose anyone knows

Me and the wife had have 3 Pandas, one Sciecento, and now 2 GPs, all been or about to be serviced at Arnold Clark in Grangemouth over the last 15 or so years. They've been pretty decent to us. Any of the problems have been Fiat design failings rather than the fault of the garage -e.g., Handbrake jammed, etc

Oh and the Allison street parts bit has been moved out to Rutherglen, along from Shawfield

Looking at THIS vid I presume your 100% correct :) I'd hate for it to be in a Stoneacre or such, they're a waste of time and know naff all about anything!

Si
maybe that is the case in italy
i doubt very much if they will be abarth only dealers in the UK as they only intend to sell 5,000 abarth gps euro wide.it will be more like the old ford dealerships some sold RS fords most didn't i have said before on this thread it will be the large fiat dealers that sell abarths.to be honest its still only a grande punto it ain't that special.it aint a specialised car,it uses all the same parts that all other fiats have in them.nowt else.just the abarth name=hype:)

My thoughts exactly,

It wouldn't be worth building speialised garages just for the abarth, it may be the case in italy, but thats italy.

is there gonna be any other colours or is it just gonne be the one thats advertised

red, white, black, with contrasting dash coloured inserts.if you read through the post it goes into in more detail

Why all the excitement about the Abarth badged GP? A 1.4 150bhp petrol engined car will be much slower in the real world (forget 0-60 times!) than the GPS 130bhp diesel. The insurance group will be much higher (12?) because of the "Abarth" badge & I'm GUESSING that "real" - not quoted - average mpg on the highly stressed 1.4 will be close to 30mpg.

The promised 180bhp 1.4 will be an automotive disaster unless you've got deep pockets. Small engines with big BHP = extreme fuel consumption (& unreliability). I will guess at around 26mpg with NORMAL driving, but if you use the revs to spin the turbo I will GUESS at approx 20mpg.....

The existing GPS 130 will blow the socks off a 150bhp petrol Abarth. A GPS 130 with a 170 bhp re-map/tuning box will most definately leave the 180bhp Abarth in the weeds. - all for £260-£500 with half the insurance premium & almost double the mpg!!. You will be very hard pushed to get less than 46mpg from a GPS 130 - however you drive it....

As an aside, in Nov 2003 I bought one of the first Mazda 231 bhp (1.3 litre) R-X8's in the country. The official mpg figures were 24. something mpg. I was lucky to get 18mpg! After 6 weeks I got mightily sick of the running costs & took a big hit & traded it for a new R32 Golf, after Mazda UK refused to accept that the advertised fuel consumption figures were misleading. The R32 only managed 22mpg but it's sheer power &, more importantly, torque, put a big grin on my face for a year.

Take a tip from me: The Abarth badge will mean nothing when you come to sell or trade in your motor. The 3 limited colours will put people off. Not many people want Black, White or Red.

Last year (2006/2007) the sales of diesel cars took over 50% of the UK Market. Why should that happen, as diesel is 2 pence more expensive than petrol? To tune a Turbo-diesel for another 30bhp costs no more than £300. To get 30bhp out of either a fuel-injected or Turbo petrol engine will cost upwards of £2000.........:D

what you say mike in your post is very true and i agree almost entirely, the reason i want a abath is it looks a bit better and different than m-jet sporting, and all the rest.the m-jet sporting differs from a active sport only by the wheels mainly and is £4k less.the ideal abarth would be the 165bhp alfa 16v 1.9 m-jet diesel engine.which is more refined than the agricultural sounding 8 valve diesel engine that's in the gp m-jet.i just drove my mothers new golf 2.0 tdi gt sport the other day.ooooh what a difference.makes the gps engine almost tractor like.:)

My GPS 8V 130 diesel only sounds like a tractor at startup & idle (as does my 2.4 20 valve Alfa Brera!). Once it is rolling it is one of the most quiet & smoothest engines in the world. I hear no engine noise from either Fiat or Alfa unless accelerating from low speeds.

Personally, if it matters to you, I would just buy a year old GPS 130 Multijet for about £10,000, spend approx £270 re-mapping it to 170bhp, spend a fiver on a couple of "Abarth" self-adhesive badges from Halfords, then watch the dropped jaws from owners of machinery costing £30K+..... It's very light. My chipped 227bhp diesel Alfa Brera (3990lbs weight!) would not keep up with my GPS 130 until about 90mph! But then it would leave the Fiat for dead (but not in the UK!). The Abarth is a brand resurrection for Fiat to boost possible flagging sales. It can't possibly be a "performance" car with only 1400cc in this day & age......:bang:

i have a 1.9 m-jet since the day they appeared on British roads with a tunit box in it giving around 170bhp.but i grow tierd of it.i love the look of the abarth and the interior.but it will be the test drive that will decide all:confused:

The look of the abarth is nice but I don't think i'll be spending that kind of money on a 150bhp engine, or the silly money they are asking for the 180bhp.

I could have 55 plate clio 182 trophy with recaros, turini wheels, adjustable suspension and a 2L 182bhp engine for 11k at the moment.

And by the time the abarth comes out a Clio 197 will be cheaper than the 180 bhp abarth, I know what i'd buy. The only thing that would persuade me to get one would be a damn good deal from the dealers.

i know what you are saying about the clio its very nice but i prefer i the abarth because 1.it will a rarer sight on our roads.2.as you will no doubt agree the gp is far better looking.who needs 200bhp or even 180bhp in a small car?ps i wont put any so called funny dots on this post:D
