Today is sad day for me and my 07 New Orleans Blue Grande Punto, a kitty kat and his family.

At approximatley 6:20PM this eveing a little ***** cat decided it would be a good idea to commit a horrible act of suicide, making good use of my front bumper to end his feline existence

The front bumpers been cracked wide open on the offside and the lower grill was smashed up, Thus I think i'll be needing a brande new bumper, the lower grille and obviously a paintjob on it :bang:

Anybody have any advice on cost of all this?

Also anyone who may be in south/west Yorkshire got any decent bodyshops to reccomend?

Think it was a young cheetah cub the speed the thing came out from the bloody bushes!

Found a bumper for 110 quid delivered does this sound bout right or can i get it cheaper?

You thought about claiming the cost from the cats owner? Will make you unpopular with many cat lovers but surely the owner is legally and morally responsible for the cats actions. After all if you hit a farm animal that had escaped from a field you would expect the farmer to cough up towards the cost of repair (or at least their insurance would).

Doesn't work like that unfortunately if you hit a dog yes you could claim but due to some archaic law which basically treat the cat as a wild animal you can't claim off the owner, if it was a dog however the owner could be prosecuted for failing to keep it under control,

infect you don't even have to stop if you hit a cat..

and in a way you shouldn't brake unless you have chance to check your mirror its simply not worth a pile up,

a cracked bumper and a dead cat is one thing but loosing control when braking and hitting a child on the pavement or been punted from behind is another matter... (

a mate of mine was a witness to an accident which could have been MUCH worse, woman driving 4x4 anchors up outside a school (at lunch time) as a cat has run out locks the wheels, skids hits set of pedestrian barriers and demolished a traffic light ripping the wheel off which also ends up on the pavement so her reward for not killing the cat major repairs to her car and teh cost of a traffic light standard and pedestrian railings

as for stopping and removing its body from the road what happens if you then get hit by a car or someone swerves to avoid the cat and runs into the back of your car?

Hard to trace a cat owner, not many have name and address tags on and they range far and wide from home at night.

you can't do anything about cats their owners arn't liable for them even if you see your neighbors cat clawing the bonnet of your car you can't do fook all, any attempt to murder it would end up with you in court and the cat owners off scott free

Indeed, I got out and moved the cat from the middle of the road but it had no traceable details so I couldnt get in touch with anyone, shame cos I know if it was my cat I would be well upset (even though i am not cat person, dogs ftw)

I managed to find a primed bumper for 90 quid delivered, off to see a mate tommorrow who does paintjobs for bikes he does a lot of custom paintwork too pinstriping etc he said he may be able to do it for me on the cheap

that sucks, living where I live and driving mostly rurally dodging/hitting animals is an almost daily occurence unfortunately, mostly rabbits but badgers are heavy bastards and did alot of damage to a fiesta of mine, and foxes, deer, even sheep occasionally, im just waiting for the day I do the same thing, ive been lucky so far. Its when you really need an old car with metal bumpers!

I missed a Deer by a layer of paint, it just brushed the front wing at 60mph on the A33 about 3 weeks ago. Missus nearly gave birth and she ain't even pregnant. Something that big at that speed is a near certain wreck
Also had a bl**dy great crow go up the bonnet and over the roof on a motorway in Ireland, still got the gouges in the bonnet :(

Dodging animals is part of every day driving
